Michael Danagher
Mr. Danagher joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1987 after working in the private sector. He has served on assignments in Canadian diplomatic missions in Lagos and in Seoul, and as Senior Trade Commissioner in Hanoi and Budapest. Mr. Danagher was assigned to Korea three times, 1993-97, 2009-13 and 2018-21. He is one of the top experts in international trade with South Korea.
His responsibilities in Ottawa focused on commercial relations with Asia, regional trade operations and intergovernmental relations. His recent role included advising on Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.
Mr. Danagher received his degree in history from the University of Ottawa and MBA from McGill University.
